Man arrested in burglaries of Topeka chiropractic, accounting offices

Raynard Walton, 54, was being held Wednesday in the Shawnee County Jail in connection with burglaries of southwest Topeka accounting and chiropractic businesses.

Topeka police said they arrested a man late Tuesday in connection with burglaries of accounting and chiropractic offices in southwest Topeka.

Taken into custody was Raynard Walton, 54, said Gretchen Spiker, public relations specialist for the Topeka Police Department.

Walton was booked at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday into the Shawnee County Jail, where records showed he was being held Wednesday afternoon on bonds totaling $20,000 in connection with two counts each of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.

Jail records indicated Walton was being held in connection with crimes reported to have been committed Jan. 2 at Topeka Sports and Family Chiropractic, 2025 S.W. Urish Road, Suite 106, and July 3 at Joy & Co. CPA, 2231 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Suite 205.

Walton’s arrest resulted from a collaboration between the Topeka Police Department’s community policing unit and its criminal investigations bureau, Spiker said.

She said officers arrested Walton about 10 p.m. Tuesday after stopping a vehicle on Interstate 70 in Topeka matching the description of one believed to be involved in multiple business burglaries.

The investigation was ongoing, Spiker said.
